Travels to Mali Ston & Mostar

We traveled with friends Kent & Jane to the Croatian Coast at the end of January.  Departing a Sarajevo encrusted in snow, we climbed over Mt. Ivan and decended into the early spring of the central valley, and then onward to the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia and overnight at the seaside village of Mali Ston.  Here are some pix ofr the village and that night in the old castle restaurant.  Patti "the Fish" had two courses of seafood for lunch and three more for dinner.
We left the Buna and drove to Mostar, the oldest and most famous city in Bosnia.  The city's famous old bridge (Stari Most) dating  ack to 1100 and the Ottoman times was destroyed during the mid-90s war and has been rebuilt in an enormous international effort.  The view at night time, bathed in lights, is even prettier..
Construction budget:  210M Euros. Completed & dedicated in September 2004.  The picture doesn't give it justice.  This bridge is the symbol of Mostar and even of Bosnia. Its completion has restored the city's tourist traffic, You can see that the gorge beneath the bridge is waaaay down there.  The river gorge is lined with restaurants overlooking the water & the bridge..
The following day we drove up to the source of the source of the Buna river near Mostar, (below) an enormous cave in the side of a cliff yielding the incredible river you see here.  We dined in this seafood restaurant, strolled along the riverbank, and admired the tanks of some 20,000 trout behind the place..
