Cavtat & the Dalmatian Coast, October 2004
After being gone for six months, I returned to Sarajevon in October 2004 just in time for a nice long weekend in Cavtat, on the Croatian coast just south of Dubrovnik.  Cavtat is you ideal idyllic coastal village, a sleepy harbor ringed by outdoor cafe's and rustic villas.  Enchanting!

The town is dominated by the 5-star Hotel Croatia, set on its own hill with views in every direction.  But it's hardly visible from town, being set deeply into the trees. The deep-water harbor always has a few visiting yachts, but the ambience is quiet and serene.  This could be a good place to purchase a vacation home
, we're thinking.

The town lives for its tourist trade, so it closes down during the cooler months from November thru March.  Even the hotels go dark.
