Kona River Restaurant   Spring, 2006
We first noticed the water-wheel signs on the road a few miles south of Dubrovnik -- the brown-and-white kind usually associated with National Parks.  "Restaurant KIonavoski Dvori"  Left off the main road, down into the valley, thru a couple villages and fields, and then left into -- a parking lot.  And a sign pointing down the steps.  OK.  Below us a large, stone patio under the trees along a river bank, with additional patios cascading up and down along the river.  And what a river, in this, the snow-melt of spring!  Forty-foot wide, crashing down from the hill, over rocks and dams and out into the valley beyond.  Wooden water-wheels powered charcoal blowers for the grill.  Mature fish swimming in fenced pools.  All permeated with the roar of the river and the rocks.  Spectacular!
Outdoors dining under the trees .......
.....along the side of this crashing river!
A perfectly-prepared platter of smoked trout served with horseradish sauce on Bavarian China.  Oooh.
Lightly-grilled and pink calves liver filets accompanied by the local greens called 'blitva."'
